前言:我(Norma Levine)請求尊貴的嘉察仁波切針對祈願大法會來開示一段話。目前仁波切除照料隆德寺外,亦駐錫於南錫金大吉祥寺。

 
HE Gyaltsap Rinpoche於26屆祈願大法會

透過噶舉祈願大法會之祈願,來消除噶舉傳承中之障礙。

噶舉祈願法會起始並興盛於第七世噶瑪巴,當時法會於拉薩大昭寺及祖普寺同時舉行。第十世噶瑪巴時,蒙古騎兵攻佔西藏,整個法會系統因此被催毀,法會也就中斷了。

一直到第十六世噶瑪巴時期,卡盧仁波切及波卡仁波切一起將噶舉祈願大法會帶到了聖地-菩提迦耶,如今,祈願大法會由於第十七世噶瑪巴的關係,其經營、領導方式等等都有了很大的改善。

就傳統佛教觀點來看,所有的修持皆必需與祈願相關,並透過祈願來達成。當我們舉行噶舉祈願大法會時,除了為人類的幸福及證悟祈願,當然也要為世界和平而祈願。

祈願世界上不再有痛苦、病痛及戰爭。

因此,這些祈願不只是宗教面,同時也是為了世界的福祉。

Gyaltsap Rinpoche’s Statement on the Monlam/ by Norma Levine on January 10, 2009
I requested Gyaltsap Rinpoche, who takes care of Rumtek Monastery and lives at Ralang in Sikkim, to offer a statement about the Monlam.

The many obstacles we have had in the Kagyu Lineage can be removed by our prayers during the Kagyu Monlam.

‘The Kagyu Monlam started with the 7th Karmapa and became famous during his time. It was held both at the Jokhang in Lhasa and at Tsurphu. By the time of the 10th Karmapa, the Mongol armies had arrived in Tibet and the whole system was destroyed; the Monlam was discontinued.

 During the time of the 16th Karmapa, it was Kalu Rinpoche and Bokar Rinpoche who together brought the Monlam to Bodh Gaya. There are lots of improvements now with the 17th Karmapa regarding rules of conduct and so on.From the point of view of all Buddhist traditions, all practices have to be associated with prayers. The results are attained through aspirations.

When we hold the Kagyu Monlam we are praying for realization and the happiness of all beings, but we also talk about world peace. 

‘May there be no suffering, sickness or war in this world.’

These aspirations are not only from the spiritual side but also for the welfare of the world.
